Karen Gibbons accredited by the Law Society of Scotland and appointed Chair of FLA

Balfour+Manson LLP is pleased to announce that associate, Karen Gibbons, has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law. In becoming accredited, Ms Gibbons, will become one of around 30 specialists based in Edinburgh. Ms Gibbons has practised exclusively in family law since qualifying and has a varied family law case load, comprising financial and child related cases, both in the sheriff courts and Court of Session. She also undertakes bar reports and for a number of years provided free monthly family law clinics for Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
Ms Gibbons was recently appointed Chair of the Family Law Association of Scotland, having held the post of Vice Chair for two years. She is also dual qualified in Scots and English law.
Ms Gibbons said: “I’m delighted to receive this recognition from the Law Society and to join the ranks of a number of specialists throughout the country who practise in family law. I’m also very pleased indeed to take up the position of Chair of the FLA at a time when the Association continues to play a significant role in issues facing Scottish family law and its future.”
