Morven Douglas

Morven graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2000 (LLB Hons) before gaining a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Strathclyde in 2001. She qualified in 2003 and since then has practised exclusively in the area of Family Law. She has a wide-ranging caseload, dealing with cases in both the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. Morven has a particular interest in cases involving cross border and international elements.

She is Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Family Law.

Morven is a current member of the Family Law Association and is a past committee member and Treasurer. She has previously provided assistance and training to the North Edinburgh Pilton Cluster Group which tackled domestic violence against women.

In the past Morven has also provided a free legal clinic to the lone parents’ organisation, Gingerbread, and has assisted with family law enquiries at the Citizens Advice Bureau legal clinic. She has previously sat on a committee which was formed by the Scottish Legal Aid Board to address the simplification of the Legal Aid application process and she is currently sitting on the Scottish Qualifications Authority Steering Group for the Review of Professional Development Awards for Family Law Paralegals.

She has also been invited to form part of a fundraising committee for the Scottish Child Law Centre whose work is due to commence in January 2011.
