Moving house can be exhausting and stressful. This can be amplified if you are elderly or unwell, making the decision after years of living in your home as what to take and what to leave can be heartbreaking. All these downsizing tasks can be overseen by our Welfare Manager Jo Downie. Prior to joining Balfour+Manson Jo worked for Bonhams Auctioneers and has many years experience in this field.
Last year we cleared a property in Aberdeenshire where a client had died – Jo writes - "there were many beautiful works of art and furniture throughout the house some of which were delivered to friends and family worldwide and many were sold at auction. On clearing the property, in the attic I found a map, it looked like an old piece of brown paper but instinct and experience told me to have it checked by a specialist – it sold at auction for £175,000 and could so easily have been overlooked".
As we announce our new free will-writing partnership with Bethany Christian Trust this week, Taylor Henry from our Private Client team explores the 10 tops reasons to have a will.
