It is now 10 weeks into the lockdown, however coronavirus is still having an unprecedented impact on the economy and businesses in the UK.

Whilst the government financial support via the Job Retention Scheme was intended to help employers avoid redundancies, it is now clear that many businesses will have to consider them when faced with many more months of uncertainty.

BBC reported yesterday (28 May) that hundreds of North Sea jobs are thought to be under threat at Subsea 7, one of the major oil and gas companies operating in the UK. The company announced “cost reduction measures” on Thursday in light of the oil and gas market deterioration in the recent months.
