Associate promotions

We are delighted to have two more lawyers promoted to associate level: Scott Clair, a solicitor within the litigation team in Edinburgh, and Sophie Hamilton Pike, a family law team solicitor in Aberdeen.

Scott Clair, who joined Balfour+Manson as a trainee in 2015, specialises in resolving civil disputes for both pursuer and defender. A substantive part of his work involves disputes litigated in the Sheriff Courts, Court of Session and Sheriff Appeal Court, where he acts as principal agent or is instructed by other solicitors on a raft of cases ranging from commercial, contractual and property disputes to contentious private client work, professional negligence, debt recovery and insolvency cases.

Scott is also a member of State School Lawyers, a social mobility initiative which highlights the enormous contribution to the legal profession of individuals educated in the state sector.

Sophie Hamilton Pike works in the firm’s Family Law department in Aberdeen and began her traineeship in August 2014, before joining the Family Team at Balfour+Manson two years later.

Sophie deals with a wide variety of Family Law matters, including child contact, adoption, interdict actions, cohabitation and divorce actions, as well as Guardianship applications in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.  She regularly appears as principal agent in Aberdeen Sheriff Court and in Sheriff Courts throughout Aberdeenshire and further afield.

She is a member of Aberdeen Bar Association, Aberdeen Society of Advocates, The Family Law Association and a Director of Grampian Women’s Aid.

Congratulating both Scott and Sophie on their appointments to Associate, Balfour+Manson, Executive Chairman Elaine Motion commented;

“We are dedicated to developing the next generation of lawyers and by appointing Scott and Sophie to Associate, they can play a pivotal role in the future direction of the firm. They both have extensive experience and thoroughly deserve their appointments, having made important contributions to Balfour+Manson’s growth and success.”
