David McIntosh

Partner

I have been a partner at Balfour+Manson for 25 years. I have an established reputation for pursuing high value personal injury and medical negligence claims which are complex and require specialist skill to be successful. I pursue many claims for members of the teachers’ union, the EIS, which has thousands of members across Scotland. These claims are for workplace injuries for trips and slips and also for stress related illness arising from issues in the workplace.

I am rated as one of the top personal injury lawyers in Scotland and handle a variety of cases ranging from minor injuries to complex cases worth several million pounds.

Some examples of successful high value and complicated cases are:

  • Margaret – Ann Reynard v Exquisite Quisine Limited Trading as Latours Cuisine [2005] CSOH 146
  • Christopher Brown v North Lanarkshire Council 2010 CSOH 156
  • KR v Lanarkshire Health Board 2016 CSOH 133
  • Bowes and Others v Highland Council 2017 CSOH 53

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to help clients who have been injured through no fault of their own. They are often badly affected by their injuries and the litigation process can be lengthy and complicated, which is an added stress. The best outcome for my clients is an award of damages, either from a court or by negotiation, which allows them move forward and rebuild their lives. I aim to help my clients make their lives better by providing professional support at a time they need it most.

When I’m not at work you will find me travelling within the UK and abroad, watching football and motorsport.
