I work in the firm’s Private Client department, having joined Balfour+Manson as a trainee solicitor in August 2013 and qualified as a solicitor in August 2015.
Prior to joining the firm, I studied for the undergraduate law degree and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh. I spent a large proportion of my traineeship gaining experience in the Private Client department but also enjoyed time in the firm’s Family Law Team and the Property department.
I have tutored undergraduate ‘Revenue Law’ at the University of Edinburgh for the past five years and sit on the board of the University’s Free Legal Advice Clinic. I am a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
I advise clients in relation to a varied range of private client matters, including succession planning, the administration of deceased persons’ estates and the law relating to adults with incapacity. I advise on applications for Guardianship and the granting and operation of Powers of Attorney, often working with the firm’s unique Client Welfare Team. I also assist with advising clients in relation to the creation and ongoing administration of trusts, with a particular focus on personal injury trusts.
