I began my traineeship with Balfour+Manson in August 2016, after joining the firm as a legal executive within the Litigation department in February 2016.
After completing my legal studies at the University of Edinburgh, I worked as a legal assistant at the Scottish Law Commission. I worked within the Contract law and Electoral law teams. I assisted the teams to develop innovative reforms to Scots law, most notably being involved in the passage of the Legal Writings (Counterparts and Delivery) (Scotland) Act 2015 through the Scottish Parliament.
Outside of work, I tutor at the University of Edinburgh for the undergraduate Contract & Unjustified Enrichment and Public Law of the UK & Scotland courses. I am also a keen runner and have participated in numerous 10K and half marathon events to raise funds for charities.
I have returned to the firm’s highly regarded Litigation department for my third seat, having spent the first six months of my traineeship there. I assist colleagues in the preparation of Court of Session and Sheriff Court actions.
My second seat was in the firm’s Commercial department, where I assisted with commercial property, corporate and charity transactions.
