About Sarah

I came to Balfour+Manson as a trainee solicitor in August 2017 from the world of academia, having successfully defended my doctoral thesis at the University of Lincoln in July 2017. My research specialism is European Union Law and I lectured in this subject at the University and have written publications on the topic.

Prior to this, I completed a Bachelors degree in Law and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow and a Masters degree in Public International Law at Leiden University, graduating ‘Cum Laude.’

While in the Netherlands, I interned in the Chambers of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, and helped prepare the judgment that found former Liberian President, Charles Taylor, guilty of war crimes perpetrated during the civil war in Sierra Leone.  This augmented previous internships I had completed in the field of civil liberties, including at the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation and JUSTICE Scotland.

In my spare time, I enjoy raising my young family.

Specialist area

My first seat at Balfour+Manson was with the Employment Department and, while there, I gained experience in successfully appearing before the Employment Tribunal and the Sheriff Court.

My second seat is with the Residential Property Team.
