I grew up in Edinburgh and completed my legal studies at the University of Edinburgh. I joined Balfour+Manson as a trainee in August 2015.
During my studies I interned for three months at the J K Mason Institute for Medicine, Life Sciences and the Law in 2013, for which I was awarded an Edinburgh Award by the University of Edinburgh. Directly prior to joining Balfour+Manson, I also worked for a year and a half in the litigation department of another sizable Edinburgh firm where I gained extremely valuable experience in dealing primarily with medical negligence and personal injury claims.
Both of these experiences in particular have prepared me enormously for practicing law and especially for the challenges of working efficiently whilst balancing considerable workloads.
I am a Solicitor in the firm’s busy Litigation department, handling a wide variety of civil dispute resolution matters on behalf of private individuals and a range of business entities at all levels of civil procedure.
I undertake work on behalf of both Pursuers and Defenders ranging from commercial, contractual and property disputes to contentious private client work, debt recovery and insolvency cases. A substantive part of my work involves regularly appearing in Sheriff Courts throughout the country, the Sheriff Appeal Court and the All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court, whether as principal agent or as instructed by other Solicitors around the country on behalf of both Pursuers and Defenders.
I am also a registered Notary Public and a member of State School Lawyers, a social mobility initiative which highlights the enormous contribution to the legal profession of individuals educated in the state sector.
