Case studies

Mesothelioma: Sandra Naylor vs. North Lanarkshire Council

David Short acted on behalf Sandra Naylor a former pupil at Caldervale High School, Airdrie.

Sandra sadly died of mesothelioma (an aggressive form of lung cancer) caused by exposure to asbestos.

Sandra contracted mesothelioma while she was at school. Reports obtained via freedom of information from North Lanakshire Council showed extensive amounts of asbestos in the school at the time Sandra was a pupil there.

We believe the local authority at the time were negligent and we are fighting on her behalf to prove this.

Legionnaires Disease

We have also been working on a civil claim on behalf of the family for one of the victims who died from the Legionnaires outbreak in Edinburgh in 2012.

David is currently challenging Scots Law to be brought in line with the law in England and Wales in terms of the Health & Safety Executive having the power to prosecute.
