Complaints

Any concerns or complaints about Balfour+Manson LLP should be raised in the first instance with the Partner responsible for the work or the Head of Department. If you are not satisfied with our response or if you prefer to do so, please contact the Firm’s Client Relations Partner, Gordon Deane. If you remain dissatisfied with how we have dealt with your complaint you may refer your complaint to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, The Stamp Office, 10-14 Waterloo Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3EG. You can also contact the SLCC by telephone call to them on 0131 201 2130, by email at enquiries@scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk or through its website www.scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk.

The SLCC operates strict time limits for accepting complaints. For complaints made by or on behalf of clients arising from new work first instructed, or conduct complained of, prior to 1 April 2017, complaints must be made within one year of the service ending or the conduct occurring. For complaints made by or on behalf of clients arising from new work first instructed, or conduct complained of, on or after 1 April 2017, complaints must be made within three years of the service ending or the conduct occurring. For complaints made by third parties arising from new work first instructed, or conduct complained of, prior to 1 April 2017, complaints must be made within one year of the specific act or omission complained of or the conduct occurring. For complaints made by third parties arising from new work first instructed, or conduct complained of, on or after 1 April 2017, complaints must be made within three years of the specific act or omission complained of or the conduct occurring. The SLCC will disregard any time it considers that you were excusably unaware of your concerns.

We recognise that Alternative Dispute Resolution Regulations have implemented ADR/EDR Directive 2013/11/EU to promote alternative dispute resolution as a means of redress for consumers in relation to unsatisfactory services. We have however chosen not to adopt an ADR process, and if you have any concerns about the services you receive from this Firm you should contact the Firm’s Client Relations Partner, Gordon Deane.
