Balfour+Manson, one of Scotland’s longest-established legal names has appointed two new female partners among a raft of promotions in the firm.
The firm has promoted litigation experts Ann Logan and Julie Clark-Spence to partner level with immediate effect.
Julie Clark-Spence will head up the firm’s Aberdeen office, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The office is currently recruiting in three specialist areas, namely personal injury, employment and family law
The other promotions at the firm are Louise Duffy, who becomes a Senior Associate in B+M’s litigation team and Sarah Shiels and Irene Turner, who move up to Associate level in employment and property respectively. Elaine Motion, Chairman of Balfour+Manson, said: “I am personally delighted to see such talented people being promoted; they have all worked exceptionally hard over the years and are a key part of the firm’s success going forward and deserve this recognition.”
Balfour+Manson now has six female partners out of a total of 18, well above the industry average. One large firm has targeted 25 per cent of female partners by 2018, well below Balfour+Manson’s existing 33 per cent.
Elaine Motion added: “The firm is wholly committed to developing our best people who are already with us – and to recruiting talented staff externally. Our focus is on continuing to grow the business in strength, depth and quality, to continue to offer the personal service we are known for. The firm is in a strong position and will continue to recruit fresh talent in the appropriate areas of business.”
