About Iona

After growing up in Glasgow, I made the move to Aberdeen to study Law at the University of Aberdeen. I graduated from the LLB in 2017 and continued my studies at Aberdeen University to complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.

I joined Balfour+Manson in 2017 as a work experience student. After that, I was lucky enough to be offered an Administration Assistant role whilst completing my Diploma. I started my traineeship with the firm in August 2018 in their Aberdeen office and qualified as a solicitor in August 2020.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis and going to the gym. I also enjoy meeting up with family and friends as much as possible.

Specialist area

Throughout my traineeship, I predominately worked in the Personal Injury and Medical Negligence team and have now joined the team as a Solicitor. I work alongside, and assist, Julie Clark-Spence and Diana Mackenzie. I have been involved in a wide range of different cases, from simple Road Traffic Accident claims to complex medical negligence cases. I thoroughly enjoy the client centred approach that this area of law requires, ensuring that each individual case is tailored to the client.

I also volunteer and run legal clinics for the Citizens Advice Bureau. This allows me to assist and advise on a wide variety of areas of law, from Family to Property and everything in between.
