I qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and joined Balfour+Manson in 2018.
I studied at the University of Edinburgh and, but for a year’s detour to Australia (working for a two large legal firms and a Royal Commission), have worked in Edinburgh ever since. Initially specialising in residential property, I made the move over to private client in 2004. Immediately prior to joining Balfour+Manson I was the head of the private client team at a small family-run law firm.
Outside of work I study part time for a second degree, this time in mathematics. I try (but usually fail!) to keep myself fit by running and playing the occasional game of badminton. I also sing in a local choir.
As a Private Client solicitor I deal with a variety of issues all of which can, and in some cases certainly will, affect private individuals. I advise clients in relation to succession planning, including Inheritance Tax issues and the drafting of Wills; the granting and operation of Powers of Attorney; the administration of executry estates; and the creation and running of trusts.
