Ann Logan of Balfour+Manson has been named Insurance Lawyer of the Year in the Legal 500 Scotland Awards.
The Awards were the first held in Scotland by Legal 500, which has highlighted the best-quality performers across all areas of law in its legal directory for the last 35 years.
Ann has long been regarded as an expert in her field of medical negligence and personal injury, and heads up Balfour+Manson’s industry-leading team in this area.
She was described by Legal 500 as “an exceptional solicitor – she is thorough and careful in her preparation, has vast experience which means her advice is always astute and tactically and strategically sound, and has a lovely way with clients who are invariably anxious and/or distressed by the whole process”.
Elaine Motion, Executive Chairman of Balfour+Manson, said: “Everyone at the firm is delighted for Ann. Many awards ceremonies are self-selecting in the sense that only those who enter are considered. These Awards looked at all the experts in specific areas of law – and the fact that Ann came out on top says everything about the quality of her work in a highly competitive field.
“Above all else, as Legal 500 highlighted, she has a lovely manner with clients in very distressing situations and is able to guide them through a difficult process with care and compassion, as well as deploying her excellent legal brain to get the best result for them.”
Ann said: “I’m overwhelmed to win this award and come out on top of such a worthy list of nominees amongst my peers. I couldn’t have done this without the great team at Balfour+Manson alongside me and this award is very much for the wider team, not just me.”
The Legal 500 Awards were made based on feedback from clients, submissions from law firms and interviews with leading private practice and in-house lawyers, and a team of researchers with unrivalled sector experience.
Ann Logan trained at Balfour+Manson and after working in London and Hong Kong, returned to the firm in 1994. She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Medical Negligence Law and by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as the first clinical negligence specialist and assessor in Scotland.
Ann’s medical negligence team is running a free, no-obligation drop-in session on 7th December – offering 15-minute Zoom or telephone appointments aimed at giving useful advice about what is involved in making a claim. This is open to anyone, those affected by a harmful event or solicitors who may wish to discuss a knotty problem. Click here to book an appointment.
