Balfour+Manson is honoured to have been selected as the sole Scottish partner of the Foundation for Infant Loss, an organisation dedicated to improving education and support around pregnancy and infant loss. As a friendly and compassionate team, we feel closely aligned with the Foundation’s values and believe this partnership is a natural fit.
As the Foundation’s sole Scottish partner, Balfour+Manson will be able to assist with Scottish legal referrals made through its network, giving individuals and families access to experienced, sensitive support. Our team will also have access to the Foundation’s specialist training on the medical and emotional aspects of pregnancy and infant loss. This will build on our existing skills and understanding, and provide valuable additional insight for our clinical negligence team when preparing cases.
Dr Chantal Lockey, Founder and Director, Foundation for Infant Loss, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Balfour Manson as our exclusive legal panel member for Scotland. Having access to trusted, highly specialised legal advice is vital for families who are seeking answers about their care, and Balfour+Manson brings both the deep expertise and the profound empathy that this sensitive work demands.
As we approach Baby Loss Awareness Week, this partnership highlights our shared dedication not only to supporting grieving families but also to driving real change in maternity safety.
By committing to our specialist training, the team at Balfour+Manson is actively investing in a deeper understanding of maternity safety and trauma-informed communication. Together, we are ensuring that families are listened to, their experiences are respected, and that crucial lessons are learned to improve future outcomes”
Information about Balfour+Manson’s services will feature in the Foundation’s national directory, enabling Scottish referrals to be directed to our team. The directory is being shared widely with NHS boards, GP practices, fertility clinics, funeral directors, charities and other relevant organisations across the UK.
The partnership comes at an important time for maternity care in Scotland. The Scottish Government’s independent review of maternity services is beginning its work, with a focus on ensuring safe, sustainable and compassionate care for women, families and babies.
We are proud to support the Foundation for Infant Loss and to strengthen the care, understanding and expertise we offer to people experiencing an unimaginably difficult loss.
