Accident at work resulting in serious spinal injury
We also recently helped a client who sustained a high level spinal injury rendering him tetraplegic, no ability to move any part of his body, other than his head. He is completely paralysed and needs high level 24-hour care. He also had to have his house modified.
Liability was never admitted so a lot of work was done identifying experts to provide supportive reports. The case settled for a 7 figure sum in favour of our client.
Road traffic accident resulting in spinal and head injury
As a result of the accident our client suffered severe spinal injuries and paralysis except for one hand.
This was an extremely sensitive and intricate case and brought many complex challenges to the team involved. They had to carry out detailed quantum investigations with numerous experts to determine whether brain injury was caused by the accident.
There were also issues relating to care package requirements, as well the difficulty in agreeing settlement when future prognosis was uncertain. In addition, the case had implications for future living requirements, assistive technology and a variety of different types of therapy.
Life expectancy issues had to be considered in depth. We obtained damages of £7m for our client.
Accident at work resulting in several fractures including a spinal injuryÂ
Our client fell through a roof whilst at work sustaining several fractures to his back, a spinal cord injury and fractures to his ribs and sternum. He was in hospital for over three months. After a poor prognosis, with early treatment and aids put in place at home, he went onto make a recovery much more positive that initially expected by Doctors.
The Health and Safety Executive found breaches on the part of our client’s employer. The insurers of his employer initially offered our client a 6 figure sum which was declined.
Following negotiations and the intention to proceed to a court action, a reasonable settlement of more than 50% the original offer was agreed for our client.
