Lorna McDowall

I have more than 35 years’ experience of being involved in various aspects of Private Client Work. I joined Balfour+Manson in 2018 and my main area of work is executry administration.

I administer estates from start to finish, including investigating the assets held and the extent of estates,  preparing the paperwork necessary to enable executors to administer estates, dealing with HMRC in relation to inheritance tax monitoring the inheritance tax position and making adjustments accordingly and assisting our Tax Department where information is required regarding final lifetime and executry income and capital gains matters, advising on the treatment of various types of assets, following the terms of the will, arranging variations and appropriations where instructed, transferring and distributing assets, and preparing final executry accounts. This role presents new challenges every day. I relish being able to problem solve for clients.

I also had the honour of being awarded Scottish Paralegal of the Year in 2022.

When I’m not at work I am a keen softball player, curler, and Parkrun attendee; I love sport. I also am a keen cook and love reading.
