About Margaret

My background has always been in HR, and prior to joining Balfour+Manson I spent my early career working for Marks & Spencer, mainly in London in their Head Office and their flagship store at Marble Arch, where I held the positions of HR Manager.

At Balfour+Manson the firm strives to create an environment where people feel both challenged and rewarded.

Here, I am responsible for the development and implementation of the HR strategy. My main objective is to ensure that Balfour+Manson is a great place to work for our partners and staff, so that clients enjoy working with us.

We have low staff turnover and many staff with long service which I feel is tantamount to proving what a great place Balfour+Manson is to work!

Specialist area

My main responsibilities are employee resourcing, relations and development. On a day to day basis, I advise the partners on all the practical aspects of employment law which include recruitment, appraisal, disciplinary, grievance and dismissal.

I particularly enjoy managing and implementing our graduate recruitment programme where we hold a selection day in September each year and select 4 new trainees to join us.

We have great success with the recruitment and retention of trainees as demonstrated in the profiles you will see on our website

I look after staff in both the Edinburgh and Aberdeen Office.
