Carolyn McPhee

Senior Associate

I have specialised in the field of clinical negligence since qualifying as a solicitor in 2013, dealing with a broad range of cases including (but not exclusively) those arising from birth injuries, surgical errors, missed or delayed diagnoses and substandard GP care.

I am passionate about helping people whose lives have been affected by negligent medical treatment and am committed to ensuring I secure the best outcome possible for each of my clients.

My caseload includes a combination of catastrophic and high-value claims within the Court of Session and lower-value cases within the All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court. I am accustomed to the complex medical and legal issues that can arise in medical negligence cases and I enjoy the challenges that these can present.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my job is getting to know my clients and it brings me a great sense of job-satisfaction to see how the compensation I achieve for them can help to make their lives just that little bit easier.

Outside of the office I spend most of my time running around after my two young children, up a ladder renovating my ramshackle home or, if I find a spare couple of hours, bagging a Munro now and again.

Quality Service. I contacted Balfour & Manson back in late 2019 for assistance with a negligence claim. The opposing lawyers seemed determined to delay the outcome as long as they possibly could.

However, our representative Carolyn, was equally as determined to make sure we got the settlement we deserved. I can’t thank her and the team at Balfour & Manson enough.
