Dhana McIver

Solicitor

I am a newly qualified solicitor, but with a wealth of experience – having been an executry paralegal for nearly 7 years, and then several years with the Scottish Courts & Tribunals Service as a Clerk of Court before that. I am profoundly deaf and wear hearing aids in both ears. I lip-read and I am currently learning BSL.

I am based within the Private Client Team and do a wide range of work, from drafting wills and poas, to administering estates from the date of death right through to distributing to beneficiaries. I am also a Disability Officer for B+M, working to improve inclusion and awareness in the legal profession.

The best thing about my job is meeting clients and taking their instructions, whether it be for wills, poas or as executors in estates. Losing loved ones is one of the most difficult things in life we go through, and I take great pride in knowing that I am assisting people through that journey and making it a wee bit easier by taking the stress of administering estates away.

I hail from Alberta, Canada and have called Scotland my second home since 2004.

When I am not at work I love to read, bake, and travel/do outdoor pursuits with my family.

Dhana McIver was excellent in dealing with my mum’s estate. My dad and I were tempted to do it ourselves, but struggled with it emotionally and were concerned that we might miss something due to the amount of details required. We’ve since talked about how glad we are that we decided to go to Balfour + Manson. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and Dhana.

I couldn’t have received better advice and help with the winding up of my Wife’s estate. Dhana McIver who dealt with the process through a very difficult time in my life eased me through it in a most professional and understanding way.

It is many years since I dealt with the loss of my parents and I found the current requirements much increased. I thank Balfour and Manson and Dhana McIver in particular.
