Kenzie Howard

I grew up in Dundee and moved to Edinburgh in 2014 to undertake a Law (LLB Hons) undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh. Following my graduation in 2018, I continued my studies at Edinburgh University and completed the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2019.

During my traineeship, I trained at a law firm which exclusively practised employment law. This allowed me to gain years of professional experience in dealing with various complex employment law matters such as employment status, whistleblowing, TUPE transactions and restraint of trade.
Following my qualification in September 2021, I joined Balfour+Manson’s Employment Team in December 2022.

I specialise in Employment Law and I am based in the Edinburgh office. I have experience in unfair dismissal and discrimination cases, particularly in advising from an employer’s perspective, and I have regularly appeared in Employment Tribunals across the UK representing the Respondent.

I assist the team with advising on all employment law issues, including settlement agreements, contracts of employment and redundancy as well as providing advice on discipline and performance management, grievances, working time and holiday pay, employee data protection, families and pregnancy and sickness and incapacity.

I have an interest in trade unions and equality and human rights issues, namely discrimination and equal pay.

I enjoy providing practical and commercially focussed advice to clients on all matters of Employment Law. Employment law is essentially about people, which makes it interesting and incredibly varied, no two days of my work are ever the same!

When I’m not at work you will find me in my kitchen, trying out the latest pasta recipe.
