Oliwia Osuch

Trainee Solicitor

I was brought up in Poland, attended secondary school in Ireland and moved for university to Scotland. I graduated from University of Aberdeen with an LLB Law and European Legal Studies degree and during my time as an undergraduate I was lucky enough to be able to spend a year studying abroad at the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain. I then moved to Edinburgh to complete my Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh.

After graduating in the midst of the global pandemic, I was unable to immediately secure a traineeship with a firm that I felt aligned well with my career goals. In order to remain familiar with the legal sector and begin networking with those who I planned to soon call my peers I chose to take on a role of a legal recruiter. After working for a prominent legal recruitment agency for over a year, I secured a traineeship with Balfour+Manson and joined the firm in January 2023.

My first seat was within the Dispute Resolution department where I assisted the team with a variety of civil dispute resolution matters on behalf of both private individuals and business entities and got a good grounding in court procedure and property related disputes.

I completed my second seat and currently in my third seat within the Commercial team where I am enjoying building up and developing my experience across all areas of commercial property. I have been involved in a variety of transactions from the onset of instruction to completion which has accelerated my learning and development under the mentoring of Stephanie Nichol.

I have covered sales, purchases and leases across different sectors and I have also been involved in a volume grant funding instruction and putting in place and registering standard securities and constitutive deeds.

The best thing about my job is constant client contact and being able to facilitate a wide variety of interesting commercial transactions for businesses of different sizes and from many different sectors. Every day is different!

When I am not at work you will find me at the gym, learning new languages on Duolingo, eating Italian food, or building houses in Sims.
